Fortress
Cantilever Slide
The Fortress Heavy Duty Slide Gate, manufactured
by Tymetal Corp., is a cantilever system consisting of single
or multiple panels. Appropriate for openings up to 30 feet
for single gates and up to 60 feet for doubles, the Fortress
Gate is designed to provide rigidity and stability. The
frame is fabricated from aluminum alloy extrusions with
primary members (top and bottom) rectangular in shape with
a cross section not less than 2" x 5". Vertical
members at the ends of the frame have a cross section of
no less than 2" x 2". Intermediate vertical members
are 1" x 2" in cross section. The frame is supported
from the track of extruded aluminum alloy by two self-aligning,
4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball bearing truck assemblies.
The bottoms of the support posts are equipped with two pairs
of rubber glide wheels.
The Fortress Structural Slide Gate, manufactured
by Tymetal Corp., is a cantilever system of unique double
track design appropriate for openings up to 40 feet for
singles and up to 80 feet for doubles. The frame is fabricated
from aluminum alloy extrusions with a top primary member
rectangular in cross section and the bottom member a structural
channel. Vertical members at the ends of the frame and between
the counterbalance and opening are square in cross section
with nominal base dimensions of no less than 2" x 2".
The gate has separate semi-enclosed double tracks of extruded
aluminum alloy. The gate frame is supported from the tracks
by four, self-aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball-bearing
truck assemblies. The bottoms of the support posts are equipped
with two pairs of rubber guide wheels. Diagonal cross bracing
of 3/16" minimum diameter stainless steel cable is
installed to brace the gate panels and provide adjustment.
The Fortress Box Frame Slide Gate, manufactured
by Tymetal Corp., is a cantilever system designed to handle
the forces of gravity and wind, using box frame construction
and stainless steel cable. Diagonal cross members eliminate
lateral sway while numerous design features necessary for
single gates with widths up to 60 feet, 120 feet for doubles,
address potential stresses on the gate. Box Frame Gates
are fabricated from 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions with
primary members (top and bottom) "P" shaped in
the cross section. The vertical members alternate between
2"x 2" and 1"x 2" in cross section and
are spaced at a distance not to exceed the overall height
of the box frame. Constructed in "box" form, the
width between the frames measures 24" from outside
to outside. Each frame has a track of extruded aluminum
alloy welded to the primary member allowing the gate to
operate smoothly. The gate frame is supported from the two
tracks by four self-aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant
ball bearing truck assemblies. The gate includes cross bracing
of 3/16" minimum diameter stainless steel cable to
provide for vertical adjustment. Bottom guides are provided
for each side of the gate frame and a ground roller assembly
is provided to support the back end of the gate when the
gate is in the open position.
Fortress Ornamental Gates are adaptable
to nearly any type of Tymetal gate configuration and are
the perfect choice for closures that need security with
an attractive design and finish. Some options of gate choices
available include: heavy duty, structural and box frame
cantilever slide gate, swing gates and vertical lift gates,
just to name a few. The frame and pickets are fabricated
from aluminum alloy extrusions with primary members on the
top and bottom, as specified per gate type. Pickets are
1" x 1" square aluminum and can be internal or
external, flat top or smashed point and can be arranged
in a convex or concave configuration. Picket spacing is
available on 2", 3", 4", or 5" centers,
or other spacing upon request. Finishes are available in
mill aluminum or baked on powder coating in standard or
custom colors. NOTE: Industry safety standards require openings
on slide gates to be no greater than 2.25" up to 48"
height above grade (4.25" opening is allowed between
48" and 72" above grade). Tymetal Corp. will supply
screening (black plastic fabric) to be attached to gates
that have picket spacing exceeding the 2.25" maximum.

Fortress
Swing
The Fortress Swing Gate is specified when the site configuration
does not allow for full movement of a slide gate and its counterbalance.
Swing gates are typically used between two buildings or where
the ground rises or falls sharply away from the outer side of
the gate post. The Fortress Swing Gate System is a Heavy Duty
swing gate for single gate openings up to 24 feet wide or doubles
up to 48 feet. It uses two 180 degree industrial gate hinges
that are attached to the gate frame with through-bolts. The
gate frames are fabricated from 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions.
The primary members (top and bottom) are "P" shaped
in cross section, and the outside vertical members are 2"x2"
in cross section. |

Fortress
Vertical Lift Gate
Tymetal's Fortress Vertical Lift Gate is specified in cases
of high usage, especially when there is insufficient space outside
of the gate opening for an overhead or cantilever gate to retract
before hitting an obstacle. The heavy construction of the superstructure,
combined with a drive chain mechanism, lifts the gate open and
pulls the gate closed. This unique drive mechanism features
a counterweight that runs inside both vertical support columns.
The counterweight is designed to approximate the weight of the
gate, assuring the motor and chain drive mechanism minimize
stress and maintenance. By incorporating a continuous loop drive
system, which is connected directly to the counterweight inside
the support column, the Fortress Vertical Lift Gate is assured
smooth operation in either direction. The vertical support columns
of the gate superstructure are constructed of heavy duty W12x53
structural steel. The gate frame is fabricated from 6063-T6
aluminum alloy extrusions in one or more sections. The gate
is attached to the vertical track by means of four self-aligning,
4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball-bearing truck assemblies.

Overhead
Slide Gate Fortress
Standard Overhead Slide Gate
Fortress Standard Overhead Slide Gate is used in situations
where there is not enough room for full movement of a cantilever
gate. Fortress Overhead Slide Gates may be hung from a wall,
an overhead structure, or from standard 4" OD support posts.
Clearances ranging from 14 feet to 18 feet above grade are typical.
Overhead slide gates are fabricated from 6063-T6 aluminum alloy
extrusions. The primary members (top and bottom) are "P"
shaped in cross section with no less than 2" on a side.
The outside vertical members are 2"x2" in cross section.
The gate includes cross bracing for 3/16" minimum diameter
stainless steel cable to assure squareness of the gate frame.
Bottom guides are provided and are located at the bottom of
the gate at the center support post. A minimum of two self-aligning,
4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball-bearing truck assemblies are
provided with each gate. The Fortress Heavy
Duty Overhead Slide Gate
The Fortress Heavy Duty Overhead Slide Gate, manufactured by
Tymetal Corp., solves closure requirements that are particularly
rigorous. Truly a specialty gate, the Heavy Duty Overhead Slide
Gate is made to withstand greater than normal stresses in very
large openings. The installation method is versatile, as the
gate may remain freestanding or may be hung between three pairs
of 4" OD posts with a structural steel support beam or
wall mounted with the appropriate support system. The Heavy
Duty Overhead Slide Gate track is fabricated from 6063-T6 aluminum
alloy extrusions. The primary members (top and bottom) are rectangular
shaped in cross section with outside vertical members "P"
shaped in cross section. Tymetal includes cross bracing of 3/16"
minimum diameter stainless steel cable throughout the gate panel
to keep the frame members square. Bottom guides are included
for each side of the gate at the center support post. Tymetal
also supplies a minimum of two self-aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed
lubricant, ball-bearing truck assemblies with each gate.

The Fortress Standard Pedestrian Gate
The Fortress Standard Pedestrian Gate, manufactured by Tymetal
Corp., is a cantilever system consisting of single or multiple
panels. Appropriate for openings up to 6 feet for single gates
and up to 12 feet for doubles, the Fortress Gate is designed
to create maximum user flexibility. The frame is fabricated
from aluminum alloy extrusions with primary members (top and
bottom) "P" shaped in cross section. Vertical members
at the ends of the frame are square in cross section with nominal
base dimensions of no less than 2"x2". The gate frame
is supported from the track of extruded aluminum alloy by two
self aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball-bearing truck
assemblies. The bottoms of the support posts are equipped with
two pairs of rubber guide wheels. The Tymetal
2150 Pedestrian Swing Gate
The Tymetal 2150 Pedestrian Swing Gate is a Safe, Fully Assembled
and Easy to Install system that is available with a variety
of options. SAFETY: UL 325 guidelines
require a separate entrance for all pedestrian access. Do not
take on the liability associated with allowing people to enter
through a vehicle slide gate entrance. The 2150 Swing Gate provides

BAR MODEL - 2SES-1 or 21ES-1:
This model is equipped with a tamper resistant manual release
panic bar. This is an ideal option for any facility that must
have an emergency exit. A manual press of the panic bar automatically
unlocks and opens the gate. The gate will remain open for
emergency employee/pedestrian exit until it is closed and
the locking mechanism is reactivated. 25ML-2-MODEL PEDESTRIAN SWING GATE WITH
MAG-LOCK:
This system features a fully assembled swing gate with mag-lock.
This lock may be wired to the building fire alarm. When the
fire alarm is activated the mag-lock will automatically release
allowing free access for employee and pedestrian traffic.

Huge
Gates
The Fortress Box Frame Roller Gate, manufactured by Tymetal
Corp., represents a dramatic break-through in the design, construction
and performance of large roller gates by using a specially designed
wheel system. Openings up to 400 feet have been protected using
this design. When the gate is operating under normal load, the
wheels run on the flat surfaces of the top and side of a W4
x 13 steel beam. As wind begins to put lateral pressure on the
gate, the width of the wheel system and its low center of gravity
tends to keep the gate in place. However, when the wind load
is strong enough to cause the wheels to lift from the beam,
the safety clips come in contact with the underside of the top
flange of the track and the gate remains safely anchored to
the ground. Box Frame Roller Gates are fabricated from 6063-T6
aluminum alloy extrusions. The primary members (top and bottom)
are "P" shaped in cross section. The vertical members
alternate between 1"x2" and 1"x1" in cross
section and are spaced apart at a distance not to exceed the
overall height of the box frame. The gate is constructed in
"box" form with the width between the frames measuring
24" from outside to outside. Roller wheel trolley assemblies
are bolted to the box frame at pre-specified intervals. Each
assembly consists of several steel members that are welded together
to provide the support to which the axle is secured. The gate
rolls on two parallel tracks that are imbedded in concrete so
that the top of the track is level with the ground surface.

Vehicle Barrier
Tymetal Corp., located in Greenwich, NY and Pearland, TX, has
been providing vehicle security gate systems for the correctional
industry for the past 17 years. Our experience has enabled us
to create a system that combines visual security with tested,
proven crash protection, the Fortified Impact Gate System (FIGS).
UNPARALLELED: FIGS is the only certified
vehicle gate that is crash tested for openings up to 288"
(24’ - 0") based on the U.S. Department of State
vehicle crash performance guidelines. DETERRENCE:
The Fortified Impact Gate System is designed to deter potential
threats by vehicles to personnel and real property. The potential
threat is defined as the mass of the vehicle to be deterred
and the velocity the vehicle will be traveling at impact. In
addition to the superior vehicle protection, this system is
also ideal to protect against unauthorized pedestrian traffic.
COMPONENTS: Mounted to the gate
frame is the fortifying member, which consists of structural
steel tubing housing one-inch cables, precast concrete anchors
and a cast in place connection beam. When the gate system is
fully closed, the precast anchors are engaged by specially designed
locking mechanisms that lock the fortifying member in place.
PROTECTION: The action of the locking mechanism interconnects
the gate frame, fortifying member, concrete anchors and connecting
concrete beam into a single unitized protection system capable
of restraining the encroaching vehicle to a predetermined crash
rating. CERTIFICATION: Tymetal
Corp.’s Fortified Impact Gate System (FIGS) is certified
by the United States Department of State (DOS) as an active
anti-ram vehicle barrier. As important, the Tymetal System applies
to gate openings of up to 24 feet. The FIGS, physically crash
tested in November 2002, received a DOS rating of K4/L3, currently
designated K4 (revised March, 2003). The FIGS was also crash
tested at 50 miles per hour, limiting penetration to 18 feet
9 inches. The combination of an independently tested, DOS certified
gate and a gate with opening spans of up to 24 feet is unmatched
in the industry. The value of actual crash testing rather than
computer simulation or in house demonstrations is significant.
The DOS certification test program is the most stringent in
the nation and provides a meaningful supplier to supplier comparison
through testing under identical conditions.
GATE SIZES: The Fortified Impact Gate System (FIGS) is
certified for openings that range from 144" (12’
- 0") with increments of 12" (1’ - 0")
up to 288" (24’ - 0"). ELECTRICAL
CONTROLLER / OPERATIONAL SPEED OPTIONS: The PLUSS electro-mechanical
(non-solid state) wiring package meets all current UL requirements
while providing the maintenance staff with a very user friendly
piece of equipment. The system is comprised of standard off
the shelf electrical components making repairs (if necessary)
straightforward and easy. Standard operational speeds of 30
to 40 feet per minute are engineered for this electrical package.
TYM-VS Controller: The TYM-VS (Variable Speed) electrical
package utilizes circuit board technology meeting new UL requirements.
This option provides for operational speeds that range from
1.2 to 2.2 feet per second and is ideal for the larger openings
or security applications that require quicker system speeds.
VERSATILITY: Even though security is more of a concern
than aesthetics, FIGS delivers both. For city jails or judicial
parking, it can use ornamental aluminum gate panels for a decorative
look. Steel chain link gate panels for a more institutional
look. The anchors may also be provided in an exposed aggregate
finish for an aesthetically pleasing result.
